Hi there! My name is Jen and this is my blog. I am a 31-year-old wife, mom, blogger, crafter, and community volunteer living in Northern California with my three kids (boys ages 10 and 9, and a daughter born in August 2013) and handsome hubby. We have 5 pets (1 dog, 3 cats, and Tiger the hamster) and pack ourselves into a small home that once belonged to my grandparents.
Everything's More Fun in a Tutu is a blog about my weight loss journey, family activities, crafting, food, things that inspire me - basically whatever fills my brain that I need to download onto "paper."
After giving birth to what will most likely be my last child, it is truly time to buckle down and lose the weight I have gained from my last two pregnancies. I try to stick to a paleo lifestyle and workout doing circut training and crossfit 4-5 times a week. It is really important to me to live a healthy lifestyle, stay fit and active, and eat well so that I can enjoy life and raising my kids.
Doing fun activities with my kids is important to me. From themed movie nights to homeschool lessons to trips near and far, we like to keep busy and try new things as a family. As often as I can, I take photos and write about these things to inspire others to step away from routine and join together with their loved ones to create new memories.
Crafting is a huge passion of mine. What was once my grandpa's workbench, covered in tools, is now my craft cave. On it is just about every craft supply known to mankind. Re-purposing items and making things from scratch lowers my stress and makes me happy. As I discover new ways to create, these will get posted as well.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Deaf Studies from California State University, Sacramento in 2009 as part of the first graduating class in that degree. From there I went on to teach American Sign Language at a private high school for 3 years until the birth of my daughter. While I enjoyed teaching, I felt like my passions were not being filled. Since 2008, I have been volunteering in the high school ministry at my church and helping out with various events there. Around town I am affectionately known as the "Duchess of Chick-fil-A" for the volunteer work I do with their marketing crew. In addition to these, I also volunteer as scorekeeper for my son's baseball team. In the future, I would love to work in marketing and/or own my own thrift store that offers classes on re-purposing "trash" to treasure.
I also recently started my own business making bows and headbands for little girls - an inspiration from my new daughter. You can check them out and purchase them here, at Bliss and Bows.
