Camping Party

As a right-of-passage in our home, the 8th birthday is the first time for a sleepover.  Because September brings beautiful weather to the Northern Californian region, we decided to go with a camping theme.  The hubby set up our large tent in the backyard, I gathered up burlap, gingham and s'mores, and we had a go.

This party was a lot of fun to plan food for (and easy too!)  We had grizzly bears (gummy bears), snakes (licorice whips), trail mix, S'mores Goldfish cracker mix, Catch of the Day (Swedish Fish), Twigs (pretzels), and S'mores mix (described below.)  Out of the picture was a platter of graham crackers.

The S'mores Mix was a mixture of a box of Golden Grahams, a bag of mini marshmallows, and a bag of chocolate chips.  So yummy!

I downloaded the wood font from the internet and used it to make my own signs for the food and welcome banner.  We also set up the fire pit and helped the boys with making s'mores at night.  The hula hoop was for a game they played.

The favors!  I purchased the bandannas from a craft store and wrapped up Mad Libs, a pencil, and a mini flashlight.
